What a busy week it has been learning about caterpillars/butterflies. We have spent lots of time talking about the life-cycle of a butterfly. We have read many books that helped us visualize and understand how they begin life as an egg, hatch to become a caterpillar and then spend some time in their chrysalis before they emerge as a beautiful butterfly! We read a lot of non-fiction books about butterflies and caterpillars...and learned some really cool information! For art this week we created a caterpillar from The Very Hungry Caterpillar and we assembled a butterfly life cycle project. One of our favorite books this week was The Very Hungry Caterpillar....below you will see some pictures of our re-telling of the story with flannel board pieces. At circle time this week we had some fun with a song which had us acting out the life cycle of a butterfly! The children had to sit still like an EGG, wiggle like a CATERPILLAR, sleep like a CHRYSALIS and fly like a BUTTERFLY! It was finally time to let our butterflies free! The children really enjoyed watching this process and were so excited to watch them fly away! Apparently a few of them really liked the children and wanted to stick around!! :) I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! We are so happy that so many of you came to our family night on Thursday...we had a blast and we hope that you did too! As you can see from the pictures the ice cream was a hit :) We are so excited that the field trip has been rescheduled. If you haven't already done so please sign the new form with the new date for Tuesday, May 28th! Friday June 7th, from 9:30-11:00 the children of Little Scouts will be taking to the field for some outdoor fun and games!
Children who do not attend on Fridays and those who have already finished for the school year are invited to attend with a parent or guardian. We can use all the help we can get to make Field Day a fantastic day for everyone! If you are able to spend the morning with us please let us know! On Field Day please make sure to send your child dressed to run around and play! Athletic shoes and sunscreen is a must!! We will be outside all morning! We hope that you have a wonderful long weekend!!
