We have started our two week Under the Sea Unit and we have learned so much already! We talked about the different layers of the ocean (the ocean surface, the twilight zone and the seafloor) and what types of sea life you might find in the different layers. We also learned that the deeper you go in the ocean, the colder it gets...because the water filters out the sunlight! No green plants grow in the twilight zone because there isn't enough sun! It is really, really cold on the seafloor!! Our art table was filled with sea life...we painted at the easel, finished the very last page of our portfolios and we painted and assembled a paper plate whale! The children really enjoyed investigating the different shells. Some children even thought they could hear the water :) Field Day is Coming Soon!! Friday June 8th, from 9:30-11:00 the children of Little Scouts will be taking to the field for some outdoor fun and games! Children who do not attend on Fridays and those who have already finished for the school year are invited to attend with a parent or guardian. We can use all the help we can get to make Field Day a fantastic day for everyone! If you are able to spend the morning with us please let us know! On Field Day please make sure to send your child dressed to run around and play! Athletic shoes and sunscreen is a must!! We will be outside all morning! We hope that you all enjoy the three day weekend!
