What a busy short week it has been!! We continued our study of dinosaurs this week. We talked about fossils and how scientist used them to gather information about the dinosaurs. At the art table the children really enjoyed painting bubble wrap to make dinosaur skin! At center time this week we put out some super fun new activities! We played with the dinosaur skeletons in moon sand and we had a dinosaur bone excavation center...we had to "dig" our dinosaurs out of "rock"! The little dinosaurs in the sensory table was of course also a big hit!! We enjoyed a collaborative experience with the English Department at Lake Forest High School this week! 2 of the English classes as an assignment were required to write a story book specifically for one of our Little Scouts! The books turned out amazingly well! The High School students really worked hard on these books...they are personalized, illustrated and absolutely fantastic! We hope that your child enjoys their book as much as the LFHS "Big Kids" did making it! Our dino egg hunt was a blast! Sadly the weather kept us from having it outside but the children didn't seem to mind... There is so much information that we could learn about dinosaurs...we could spend the rest of the year talking about them, and still not cover it all! Sadly, it is time for us to leave our extinct friends behind and start talking about how to take care of our Earth, so that we don't become extinct! We will leave you with one last not-so-scientific thought: if you took eleven 3 and 4 year olds and stood them on top of each other...they would be as tall as a Tyrannosaurus Rex! No school tomorrow. We hope you enjoy the three day weekend with your families!!
