We continued talking about the farm this week. We learned about the lifecycle of chickens...and that roosters and hens have different "jobs" on the farm. How would we get up in the morning without a rooster?!! In talking about what chickens and pigs eat we learned that there are different types of corn; corn that that animals eat and corn that people eat. We even made a special popcorn snack with our Crazy 8 popcorn popper! Next week we will be talking about Thanksgiving and all the things that we are thankful for! In the photos below you will see us "milking" a cow. Ok, so it was a rubber glove filled with water...but it feels very similar! Our sneaky fine motor practice this week was to have the children "feed" the turkeys corn kernels and beans with our scissor tweezers and regular tweezers! Winter weather has made it's first appearance! If you are like us, you are lamenting the early cold cold weather but this seemed like the right time to remind everyone of Little Scouts Weather Policies! We go out each day so long as the air temperature (including windchill factor) is above 20°. Please help us keep your child warm and healthy, we are out most days for at least 30 minutes! Hats and mittens are a necessity! Right now is a great time to make sure that you have boots and snow pants for your child. Once the snow arrives full force, (and it warms up enough to get outside) the playground equipment becomes unsafe to play on. So unless your child has proper snow gear, they will just be standing on the sidewalk watching the others play in the snow, and nobody wants that!! We also ask that you please check your child's spare clothes to make sure that they are both seasonally appropriate and the correct size. Little Scouts will be closed Wednesday, November 27th- Friday, November 29th.
