Thanksgiving has been the topic of the week...we have learned SO MUCH about this fun holiday and why we celebrate it! The children learned about the Pilgrims taking a boat from England and meeting the native Americans. We discussed all the ways that the Native Americans helped the Pilgrims. We talked about what it means to be thankful, a really big concept for such little people! We asked the children what they were thankful and got some really great answers! Take a look at our board in the hallway! For art this week it was a turkey-palooza! We made hand-print turkeys for our portfolios, used an eye dropper to make feathers for our turkeys and we made turkey headbands! We can't forget about our corn that we made painting with legos! At our themed center tables we have had all sorts of turkey fun! We strengthened our fine motor muscles putting "feathers" on our turkey cups and by picking up teeny tiny buttons for our turkey color match. It was really fun this week to "feed" the turkeys corn kernels and beans with our scissor tweezers and regular tweezers! And finally, we worked on number recognition and one-to-one correspondence with our pin the feathers on the turkey game! With Thanksgiving upon us, it is time to check your child's spare cloths and make sure that they are weather appropriate! (Sadly, we are past shorts and t-shirts weather until 2018!) Little Scouts will be closed for the Thanksgiving Holiday Wednesday, November 22nd-Friday, November 24th!
