HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROOKE! This week we moved to the tip of the earth, the Arctic Circle! We took out our globe and looked to see where the Arctic Circle is and where the tippy top of the earth is...the North Pole! We learned that the days and nights are very different there...depending on the time of year, it might be dark (or light) for a whole day!! We also began our exploration into Arctic animals like polar bears, the walrus, and the snowy owl! Did you know that a polar bear is actually not white?? That is just one of the many cool things we learned this week! At our art table this week we made a walrus, glued "fur" to polar bears and we painted a snowy owl! The children really enjoyed playing in the snow with the arctic animals in the sensory bins during center time. They didn't need mittens or gloves for this type of snow :) We also sorted our winter erasers and had a number recognition game out this week...an arctic animal one to one correspondence activity with fish. At circle time this week we heard one of our favorite stories, that also happens to be a little science experiment! It is the story of a polar bear who is always wishing that his fur was a different color. At the end it's a cup of magic bleach that helps him return to his proper color! Little Scouts has a new and improved website, be sure to check it out! You should have received information about registration for next fall. In the event that you did not, it can be found by clicking on information pack on the website! Littlescoutspreschool.com
Little Scouts is closed Monday, January 18th. We hope that you enjoy the long weekend!! Next week we will continue learning about the Arctic!
