Happy Birthday Aahyda!! We finished up our Arctic Studies this week. There are so many fascinating facts that we learned about the arctic and arctic animals. Because it is so cold there, many of the animals that live there have developed special adaptations like furry feet to help them survive the harsh climate. We talked a lot about camouflage this week, and how it helps both the animals that are doing the hunting and the animals that are being hunted...check out our winter/summer bulletin board in the hallway, lots of fun facts! Our art table was busy as usual this week! We finished up our walrus project, and started our camouflage projects. We got to choose if we wanted to make a summer or a winter Arctic Hare and Arctic Fox. The hares we painted in appropriate color scheme and the foxes were a spatial reasoning project where we were given the pieces and had to assemble it. We also gave our fingers a workout by tearing white paper into teeny tiny pieces to glue on our snowy owls! The biggest hit of the week was our small arctic animals and the play-dough! It was great to see how the children's play evolved during the week as we learned more facts about each of the arctic animals! Next week we will be traveling down the the south pole...so that we can learn about our favorite fine feathered friends... the penguins!
Gentle Reminders: Please don't forget that there is no school on Friday, February 8th! We will be closed for the Little Scouts Teacher In-service training day!
