Happy Birthday Goldie!! The holidays are approaching quickly, and we have been hard at work learning about how our 5 senses can help us enjoy the holiday season! We had to start with an explanation of what we we mean by our five senses: smell, taste, touch, hearing and seeing; and what we use them for: to learn more about the world around us. Once we got a handle on that, we talked about the different things that might be around us or available to us during the holiday season and how our senses help us to explore them. Some ideas that came up are holiday lights, live trees INSIDE our houses, candles on a menorah, lots of cookies baking in the oven, jingle bells...I bet that everyone can come up with lots more examples! Lots of painting at the art table this week, we painted stripes on candy canes, painted golden bells and yummy smelling gingerbread! We also have been very busy working on some holiday projects to decorate our room and hallway! We had some fun holiday themed centers this week. We sorted our holiday erasers and decorated felt trees with felt ornaments and tinsel. We used our sense of touch and sight while working out the tiny muscles in our fingers stringing beads onto the branches of our Styrofoam trees and trying to spin the dreidels. We played our holiday "What's Missing" at the rug and then the children played together as one of our centers! Next week we will continue our fun exploration of the winter holidays!
Little Scouts will be closed December 21st - January 5th for Winter Break! School will resume on Wednesday, January 6th!
