Apples, apples everywhere. . .who knew such fun could be had! We had a blast painting with red and yellow at the easel, using our dot markers, cutting out apples and even using a real apple to make apple prints with! Did you know that an apple will float in water? That is one of the many new things that we learned this week about apples! During our apple taste test we discovered red apples were the most popular. We graphed the results from our highly scientific test, take a look at our graph outside the door! We also worked on some number recognition and color matching with a few different apple games at center time. The children had to count the number of seeds in the apple and identify the number. They also put "apples" in the apple tree. We will continue working on these skills throughout the coming weeks! As an extra special treat we made mini-apple "pies" with the kids! The kids helped us measure and stir the filling....spending a little extra time so that we could all smell the yummy cinnamon! This is one of our favorite apple songs that we have been singing... Way up high, in the tree Way up high, in the tree, Five red (or green) apples smiled at me, So I shook that tree as hard as I could, Down came an apple mmm, mmm, good! (Continue with four, three, etc) Next week we will continue with our month long fall theme, and learn about animals in the fall! We told a cute little story about finding a little red house with no windows, no doors and a star inside! If you want to find that little red house on your own at home, you will need a red apple and a knife!
