We have started our two week Under the Sea Unit and we are having so much fun! We have made a list of all the animals that we can think of that live in the ocean, and then we learned about some animals we hadn't even listed! We started with the top of the food chain-the shark! Did you know that there are over 350 kinds of sharks? Or that sharks are a type of fish...they breath using gills! Along with lots of under the sea facts, we got to explore the "silly side" of the ocean with some of our favorite fiction books. At the art table we assembled sharks out of paper, used water colors to make a sting ray and painted plates to make a whale. On Thursday we took a little break from our water creatures to talk about how to keep the Earth healthy so that it is around for a long, long time! We used blue and green finger paint to make Earth! Here are the lyrics to a song we enjoyed this week. E-A-R-T-H (to the tune of "B-I-N-G-O") There is a planet we all love And Earth is its name. E-A-R-T-H E-A-R-T-H E-A-R-T-H And Earth is its name. Next week we will continue our ocean study! We will also start working on a top secret project! :)
